T.V., Music & Movies Monday: A Loaded Lineup
October ‘26 Ed.

October has presented a loaded lineup in music and television. The Rap Ladies are turning cold as ice, breaking out the big guns, and determined to prove the naysayers wrong. I must say, I’m not mad at it. In fact, it seems to push them to step up their game, improving the quality of their craft with multiple quotable bars, composed with cleverness and raw emotions. Television is back and binge-worthy as the season settles in. The return of Jax Stewart, the cast of A Different World: New Generation, and the anticipation of P-Valley's return have viewers' TV rosters stacked.
T.V. & Movies
A Different World Reboot (Currently on Netflix)
Reasonable Doubt ( Now Playing on Hulu)
P Valley (Available on Starz Dec. 4th)
The Gilded Age (Returns Nov. 1st on HBO Max)
The Different World reboot is well done, with strong potential to explore original storylines and build its own legacy while maintaining the essence of the original show. Great character selections and promotion of college and specifically Black college culture. Addressed modern student challenges: first-generation, nepotism, diaspora conflicts, dating, student involvement, etc.
Reasonable Doubt season 4 is currently airing. If you’ve been along for the ride or are newly tuning in, watch on Tuesdays as Jax navigates running her new law firm, recovers from last season's injuries, and faces a serious, life-altering reality about her current habits.
The return of The Gilded Age and P Valley has many viewers anticipating the upcoming seasons. In the final two months of the year, our televisions will be graced. Be sure to catch up on what was going down at The Pynk streaming on Starz as a refresher for what’s to come.
Rap/Hip Hop
Doechii-Cat Woman
Megan Thee Stallion-Thin Ice
Doechii-Bombs
Megan Thee Stallion-Is You Cool & Tina Tuesday
Yung Miami- Watch This (Album)
Cordae & Anderson. Paak- Heavy is the Crown
Women of Rap/Hip Hop are rapping with skill and showcasing creativity, trying alternative sounds and looks. This is an advantage of femininity: their ability to explore is often well received.
Yung Miami drops her debut album loaded with singles, being vulnerable about being counted out, friendship, etc
Doja’s concert and tour performances have been epic from the images and footage I've seen. The lady is a true performer and a prime example of the point above.
My honest message to artists from the consumer side is: don’t let fan bases create beef or box in your creativity and sound; people are fickle.
Keep bringing the heat, healthy competitiveness; let it draw out your best lyricism.
R&B
Mya-Saturday Night
Teezo Touchdown-Honeymoon Night

Mya dropped the visuals for her single “Saturday Night,” a fun jam with a nostalgic yet modern 80’s audio. Teezo Touchdown dropped imaginative visuals for his single “Honeymoon Night,” with two video concepts: one being the pre-wedding video shoot and the other detailing experiencing cold feet.
Country
K.Michelle- Jesus & Whiskey (Album)
A huge congrats to Ms. K.Michelle on the debut of her country music album “Jesus & Whiskey”. I’m intrigued by the oxymoronic, paradoxical concept of the title. I mean, after all, given the biblical context, perhaps he’d be impartial to a little tipple. The music veteran is no stranger to the genre and naturally embodies the category's vocal and cultural aptitude.
Music Abroad
Mr. Eazi ft. Moliy- Comfort
Victony ft. Summer Walk-Thick

I was introduced to Victony while visiting Brazil; his song “Slick” was in rotation, had everyone vibing, and has been on the playlist since. So you know when him and Summer Walk paired up for the remix I was too thrilled. And the bonus was that the visuals gave me two of my favorite things: shades of blue and gorgeous, unambiguous, rich skin beauty! It’s not enough to play the song; I have to see the video too. Also, go listen to Mr. Eazi’s new single ‘Comfort’ featuring Moliy.
I enjoy introductions to new music from artists locally, nationally, and globally. Feel free to share, shout out, or drop a 🩵 and let me know who I should tune into next. As always, ensure to laugh, love, and listen! 🎶🎧
