Friday 7/17 was more than a date of pleasant angel numbers. Some of the anticipated music from Hip Hop and R&B's hottest artists dropped, kicking off the weekend. Masego, Rick Ross, Larry June, and Syd are amongst the artists that delivered what their supporters and consumers were waiting to hear. They are ushering in music with instant replay value to get us through the second half of the year.
Masego's third studio album, "Fix Your Face," is 16 tracks of vocal and instrumental pleasantries. "Fix Yo Face" features songs with Keyshia Cole, Leon Thomas, Musiq Soul Child, and Foggie Raw. My favorites are 'Limerence', 'I Know You', 'Wonderwoman', 'Dotted Line', 'Overthinking', and my favorite of them all, 'Go'. Hell, needless to say, I loved the entire album, but I had to shout out my faves. Listening to this project was too familiar to the topics and drafts in my notes app. BOLO for his upcoming tour dates starting August 4th. I recommend checking out the album first, as you'll certainly want to sing along in the crowd. Larry June's "Who Coppin" (me) is another quality release; the 16-track album features artists Jhené Aiko, Musiq Soul Child, Swizz Beatz, B-Legit, and more. A few of the songs and their titles served as an omenic message to me personally, but then again, Larry is known for his motivational messages in his music. Tracks like 'Go Outside', 'Better Decisions', 'Everything Liquid', and ' Win or Lose ' certainly upheld the standard.
"Set In Stone" is Rick Ross' 12th album. The Music Veteran gave listeners a quantitative 19-track album filled with luxury raps, features, and Miami's regional flow. A few of my favored tracks are 'City Lights' ft The-Dream, 'Diamonds Never Die', 'Minks in Miami', and 'The Algorithm '. Ross also featured the late Nipsey Hussle on the album with snippets from an interview where he discusses the importance of having discipline and faith to achieve our goals. Syd and Steve Lacey both released solo albums, and it was announced that the Internet is working to release their next album in early 2027.
B2K debuted their new single Mileage, which sounds pretty good, and it's obvious the group has been putting in work because the dance moves in the visuals were looking pretty good also.
