2026 is an election year for the great Golden State. Local and statewide elections are being held throughout the second half of the year. The primary elections are on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. The purpose of the primary election is for voters to determine which candidates compete in the general election, which will be Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The last day to register to vote for the June 2, 2026, Primary Election is May 18, 2026. All California active registered voters will receive a ballot for the June 2, 2026, Primary Election. County elections officials will begin mailing ballots by May 4, 2026.
Voting has been made convenient with mail-in and early voting options. Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z really need to step up and take our state and local elections seriously. This is where most of the most direct impacts on our livelihood occur. Our public education system is in need of major reform. Our teachers are overworked and underpaid. The housing crisis is preventing many residents from the security of a stable lifestyle and an opportunity to build and create generational wealth. Global warming and climate predictions indicate that extreme temperatures will continue to rise over the next decade, and sustainable infrastructure must be implemented to protect vulnerable and distressed populations. These are just a smidgen of the plaguing issues in California, the fourth-largest economy in the world and a political trendsetter. We don’t need more career politicians in office; we need actionable professionals who understand that their election to office is a civic duty and a service to constituents. They must understand that we are competent and that they will be held accountable.
I will follow up in my next piece with more general information and a synopsis on the gubernatorial candidates. I will not tell you who to vote for, but my goal is to assist voters with making informed decisions. For additional general information, click the link below.
